Coloured tights to bring your outfit to life

There's always an occasion to wear a dress. And sometimes you might need a pair of tights underneath. If you want to spice up your outfit, a pair of coloured tights is definitely the way to go.

Whether you're going to a party or just spending the day at the office, a pair of coloured plus size tights can brighten up your outfit. It's a trend that's grown over the past few years and we're seeing it everywhere from the big fashion houses to social media and the high street.

In fact, you can use the colourful tights exactly as you like. There are no rules and no limits. But if you want our take on how to use them, read more below.

Red tights

A pair of red tights is of course an obvious choice for winter, especially when a Christmas party might be on the cards. Pair a velour dress with red tights, for example, and you've got an outfit that's perfect for winter gatherings. Add a pair of stilettos and you're ready to start the party.

Purple tights

You can easily wear a pair of purple tights in your everyday life. For example, try pairing the purple tights with a classic shirt dress. This way you get an outfit that is both elegant and feminine. Adding a pair of leather boots will give your look an edge, and pairing it with a pair of sneakers will make it more casual.

Blue tights

Blue is a classic and elegant colour. It can be worn at any time. The classic black dress can be given new life, and a dress in a shade of blue can be given an extra dimension with a pair of blue tights to complement it. If you want to keep that elegant style, blue tights are definitely the way to go.

Skin toned tights

The most traditional tights are the "skin-toned" ones. They come in different tones to suit your legs. And there are no limits to when you can wear a pair of these tights. The fact that they're just the same shade as your skin means you can pair them with different colours. The only limit is your imagination.

Glitter tights

For an extra festive look, wear a pair of glitter tights under your dress. They'll add an extra sparkle to any festive look. Whether you pair them with a plain dress, a printed dress or even a glitter dress doesn't matter. They will only add more power and style to your outfit.

Patterned tights

If you prefer to stick with a pair of classic black tights, add a twist to your look by choosing some with a pattern. A pair of patterned tights will add a bit of fun to a plain dress. Plus, you can choose the pattern that suits your mood and style.

Green tights

The green tights are more subdued, so if you want to wear more neutral-coloured tights, you can use them. Maybe you have a dress that is colourful itself. Add a little twist to your outfit by wearing a pair of dark green tights instead of the classic black ones.

Colourful footless tights

You may prefer to wear leggings than tights, so it's lucky that you can wear colourful footless tights in exactly the same way as traditional coloured tights. Wearing a pair of coloured leggings under your dress has the same great effect as wearing tights.

Check the denier of your tights

If you've been inspired to wear colourful tights with your outfit, it's a good idea to keep an eye on the density of the tights - also known as denier. The lower the denier of the tights, the thinner they are. This means that if you for example wear a pair of 40 denier tights, which are some of the thinnest, the colour will also be less vibrant when you wear them. On the other hand, if you choose a pair of coloured tights in 100 denier, the colour will stand out more. So, keep that in mind when you're choosing your plus size coloured tights.
